Have you ever noticed that all families have certain spoken or unspoken requirements that when followed allow the members of the family relate to one another in an exceptable way. Maybe the family has certain expectation based on gender or possibly there are certain expectation about family members being present at certain events.
Whatever they are, when adhered to things go smoother in family relations. God also has a family and we are His adopted children. As such there are things He requires of us in order to have a great relationship with Him on a daily basis. In Deuteronomy 10:12-14 we read, 12 " Now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require from you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and love Him, and to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, 13 and to keep the LORD'S commandments and His statutes which I am commanding you today for your good? NASU
His requirements include:
1. Fearfully respect God always.
2. Follow His standard for mankind.
3. Serve the Lord with all your heart.
4. Be Obedient to His laws.
When we do these simple things we have peace in our relationship with God. They do not get us into heave, that comes by faith in Christ Jesus our Lord and is another issue. But when we do live by God's requirements for those in His family, there is peace between us and Him and He is free to guard, guide, and Enoucrage us.
Let's learn to live in obedience to God's family requirements.
