We live in a world that is full of evil. We saw that evil explode in our living rooms as we watched the trade towers come crumbling down. The site left one speechless and caused many to return to churches to look for answers. But as time went on the general public grew less and less concerned and many have relegated their fear to nothing more then a distant memory.
Why? Because instead of waiting to be attacked again on our soil, we went to theirs. Now we can argue all day as to whether we ought to have gone and whether the war was just or not, but the reality is evil is present in our world and will attack until checked with sufficient force. By going to their soil we have had 8 years of relative freedom from similar attacks on our soil. We ought to be thankful that such attacks have not been repeated.
Even in biblical times a strong army was a must for safety. The sin nature that resides in every human being is part of our everyday experience and so we have a need for protection on a daily basis. Let's pause today and take a few moments to praise God for the police, fire fighters, military personel, and any other first responders or gardians of liberty and the rights of the people. Let's pause and keep the memory of the trade towers and their terrible destruction alive so we never loose sight of the sin nature that causes other wise good people to do bad things.
