Running in the race of life

Life is often like an endurance race.  We begin well enough but our culture seems to glorify instant everything which means we enjoy sprinting from one thing to another more then viewing life as a marathon.  But God reminds us in Hebrews 12:1  that life is more like a marathon race.  And our approach to that race must be long sited as opposed to being short sited and expecting success, comfort, and ease right now, this moment.

Heb 12:1-3
"12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." NIV

Notice why Jesus endured the cross.  He endured it because of what would come as a result of it.  Are you able to endure ridicule, injustice, slander, and other such unwarranted experiences.  The only way to press on when life isn't fair, is to look back at the hero's of our faith and look forward to the victory of the cross.  It all fits together when you have an eternal view of the past, present, and future.  Try seeing life from God's perspective and draw closer to Him each day in prayer, bible study and service. Let's live our lives as winners with an eternal view that leads to endurance.
